The South had created its own money because it thought of itself as a free nation. Because of the new money when they lost the war they were once again citizens of the United States and all the money they had was worthless. Rich people became broke because they didn't have any of the U.S.'s currency so they couldn't trade or pay taxes.

The South had created their own currency and when they lost the war they had to become part of the United Sates. The amount of money that they then had was worthless because there was no type of value with the confederate money. When they had been helped out by the Union they had no value and was very difficult to get a job. After the War there was a lot of destruction and when they had to rebuild the Cities, they had no currency to pay for the people that had to work. When the currency was released (went away) the South had lost millions of dollars. For the Government to retain the money, the amount of taxes was increased and therefore the money that was lost was harder to obtain again.

The South had problems with money because they had a different currency than the North. They had a different currency than the North because during the Civil War the South thought of themselves as their own country so they felt as if they needed their own currency. This became a problem when the war was over because all of the South's money was considered worthless.

The south made its own money which created a problem. The South's currency was based on Confederate money after the south seceded from the Union. After the South lost, the money was not worth a cent. Most of the south was bankrupt. I agree with d_lm about how the rich turned poor and so they couldn't pay their taxes.

The south seceded from the nation, so they considered themselves a new nation. The confederates made their own government, and they created their own money. Once the Union won the war, the confederates money was worthless. People in the south were broke because they had no U.S. currency so they couldn't pay their taxes. I agree with d_lm about how rich people became broke because they didn't have the U.S. currency.

The problems that the South had with money were that they had a different type of currency then the North. Then when they lost the war their money became worthless because they were now a part of our nation (not their own). Then they had to fix all of the buildings that were destroyed without any money.

The South thought as themselves as a free nation so they made up their own currency. After the South was was deffeated in the war, their confederate money was worth nothing because they were now part of the U.S which had a different currency. Also, rich people of the South were now broke because they could not pay taxes with their worthless confederate money.

The south wanted to be a free nation. The south printed their own currency and called them south the confederates. After they lost the war, and became one nation again ; their currency was worthless so they ended up burning their old currency and had to use different currency. The wealthy familys couldn't pay their taxes because it became worthless. When they came to the reconstruction of the cities and areas, they had to rebuild them without getting paid. Many familys became poor during this time period.

The South had problems concerning money after the war had ended. When the South had divided itself from the Union and formed the Confederacy, in a way they set up there own government. Along with the new government, the confederate states started producing a currency of there own. When the war had ended with the Union winning, the confederate states became part of the Union again. The confederate currency was now worthless. With no money, the South had trouble rebuilding and reconstructing.

The South and the North fought in battle. When the war was over, and the North won! The south became apart of the North's nations. Since the South thought of themselves as a free nation, they had confederate money that was now worthless, because they weren't there own separate nation. Now they have all of these buildings to build, and people have taxes to pay, with no money since the money they owned was worthless now. This was a big problem for there society.

The South thought of themselves as a free nation, because of this they had confederate money. When taking that money out of there so called nation it was worthless. So paying taxes was harder, since the confederate money was worthless to other places. The South became very poor, the rich people could not pay taxes, and after the war the South is apart of the North's nation. Now the South has to build buildings with no money, since there money was worthless.

the south had problems with there money because they made there own thinking they were a free country. When trying to pay taxes was hard because there money was only good in the South and no where else. But when the war was over the southerns money was worthless to the south and so they had to burn all and start all over with new money that could be used everywhere.

The South wanted to be a free nation, and not have anything to do with the North. That means the South needed there own government, and currency. They did get that and the money that the South had was called Confederate money. At that time, they were at war with the Union or the North. The South lost the war. That meant the North and South were one nation. Now that the South's currency or money was worth nothing, the South was pretty much poor. Also, the South had a very hard time rebuilding beacuse they barely had money. Many people in the South became poor.

The south thought they were a free Nation so they come up with there own currency. When the north won the Civil war there money became worthless because the north had different money and the south now had to fallow there laws. The rich people from the south were now poor because the could no longer pay their taxes. From this the whole south became poor.

The south had problems with their money because most of the battles during the war were fought in the south, so the Confederate's had to pay money for reconstruction. On top of that their money was worthless so the south couldn't pay for anything. So the outcome of this is, that the south became poor.

During the Civil War, the South had broken away from the United States to form their own nation. Since they thought they were their own nation, they naturally thought that they would need their own currency. This caused them to print their own money. However, when they lost the civil war they became part of the United States once again. This caused all of their money to now become worthless. This was one of the problems that contributed to the Great Depression because every one in the South had suddenly become broke.

I agree with Tara because the south had broken away from the North and became its own country. Since they were their own nation they needed their own currency. However when they lost the war it was worthless and southern folks were becoming poor
